About The Role

We are looking for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join an industry leading Geology and Geotechnical team in our Shropshire office in September 2023. 

We work predominantly with a contractor client base, so our projects are varied and will provide you with the opportunity to combine technical understanding with practical implementation.

This role will suit a graduate who has a strong desire to learn and be able to work within a team environment supporting the geotechnical engineers with the design delivery of existing civil engineering projects. You will be supported and mentored by industry experts, while being given the space to demonstrate your own knowledge, creativity and abilities.

Responsibilities:

    • Undertake research and investigations to develop a clear understanding of the ground conditions at a project site.
    • Plan, specify and manage site investigations and laboratory testing programmes.
    • Collate and analyse field and laboratory data and undertake analyses related to the project design.
    • Prepare drawings and detailed geotechnical reports.
    • Work within the design team under the direction of colleagues.
    • Learn and behave in accordance with company values and corporate standards.
    • Learn and work in accordance with company procedures.
    • Attend sites and project where required to assist with site inspections and surveys.
    • Recognise the commercial requirements of projects and the company as a whole.
    • Ensure your work is carried out efficiently and effectively.

About You

Essential Criteria:

  • BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or a Geology related subject.
  • Willing and able to work towards professional qualifications.
  • A knowledge of the typical ground conditions and geology of the United Kingdom.
  • The ability to anticipate and interpret ground conditions and to develop accurate ground models from site investigation and desk study information.
  • A knowledge of industry standard geotechnical software including CAD systems

  • Good verbal and written English
  • Good attention to detail and an the ability to resolve uncertainties
  • Interest in using computers for design work and calculations
  • The ability to organise your own work and time management
  • Good communication skills and ability to express ideas
  • A positive and pro-active team player who demonstrates a willingness to apply themselves in a workplace environment
  • A self-starter who displays a ‘can do’ attitude towards tasks and is willing to learn
  • Full valid UK driving license.
