Management Accountant - Birmingham

Our Group Finance team is looking for a Management Accountant to be based in our Birmingham office.

This is a new position, reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for producing management accounts for our Ground Engineering division.

We are looking for a Management Accountant who can identify problem areas and present recommendations to company management. Who can communicate and interpret financial data to our non-financial managers.

This is a permanent role that is full time but we are open to considering the position on a part time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the finance function and overseeing all day-to-day finance operations.
• Manage the maintenance of the financial accounting system and accounting processes.
• Completion of monthly management reports.
• Review the management accounts and balance sheets and investigate variances.
• Manage the entire year end process and take overall responsibility for balance sheet and reconciliations.
• Monitor financial transactions and internal controls and cash flow forecasting.

Essential Criteria:

• Educated to degree level, with an accounting qualification (preferably CIMA)
• Strong systems skills (preferably SAGE).
• Proficient IT skills including Microsoft packages.
• Valid UK driving license.

The Individual:

• A strong focus and background in finance with a good understanding of technical accounting.
• Attention to detail, but with the ability to think strategically as needed.
• Excellent communication.
• A proactive and adaptable approach.
• Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
• A good appreciation of what constitutes best practice in terms of systems and processes and the ability to identify and implement necessary changes.
