About The Role

We have a unique opportunity for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join an industry leading Geology and Geotechnical team in our Shropshire office in September 2022.

This role will suit a graduate who has a strong desire to learn and be able to work within a team environment supporting the geotechnical engineers with the design delivery of existing projects. This role is a great opportunity to join an existing team and learn from some of the best engineers the industry has to offer.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare desk studies.
  • Conduct site based geological and geotechnical fieldwork in UK.
  • Interpret and assimilate data, to prepare ground models, assess risk and contribute to the engineering design process.
  • Plan, procure, supervise, and report on ground investigations to the requirements.
  • Provide engineering geological input in the design of the following in both soil and rock: foundations and substructures; slopes and assess stability; earthworks; reinforced earth structures.
  • Provide input to soil and rock mechanics analyses.
  • Undertake budgeting and cost control.
  • Prepare technical reports.

About You

Essential Criteria:

  • Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Sciences, Applied Geology Bachelor’s degree or higher level, or other similar qualifications.
  • Willing and able to work towards professional qualifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate good safe work practices and adherence to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Functional use of AutoCAD.

  • Ability to work effectively individually and within a team environment.
  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Self-starter and works well under pressure.
  • Flexible and willing to work away from home on sites and occasionally in other offices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver well written, competent technical reports.
  • Effective time management skills, with an efficient ability to schedule and prioritise.
  • Full valid UK driving license.
